DJ Lee Coombs
Lee
Coombs was born in Cambridge in 1971. He first started DJ’ing in
1989 and quickly built up a reputation and good name for himself.
His first big break was becoming a resident DJ at Eclipse in April
1991. With a unique style and DJ’ing ability this meant that he
remained in much demand, and was always fully booked playing at the
ever-growing number of raves and events in the area.
Deep into 1991 after a lot of hard work, Lee produced his first
record under the name of ‘The Invisible Men’ on Orbital Records, and
this was just the beginning!!! He later went on to run his own
record labels ‘Paradise Recordings’, ‘Pumpin Vinyl’ and the much
talked about electro-driven ‘Zoid’ and ‘Thrust’ series. He also
recorded the excellent ‘Sky Juice’ and ‘Intensity’ for the ‘Finger
Lickin’ label. And then his massive follow up single ‘Future Sound
of Retro’. This was a firm favourite with Radio One’s Pete Tong and
Mary Anne Hobbs. It received heavy radio play and was licensed to
Pete’s Essential Selection album.
In 1998 Lee continued to DJ and was drawn to the big smoke of London
where he continued to regularly play at all the major clubs
including Bugged Out and Fabric as well as under the Finger Lickin’
banner all over the UK and Europe.
After working for Intergroove Distribution for years, Lee has now
given it up to concentrate on music full-time. After his success
with various remixes and productions his profile has risen
dramatically.
Lee carried on DJ’ing all over the world, busy blowing up dance
floors from Edinburgh to Berlin, from San Francisco to Jersey! He
has recently done remixes for some really high profiled artists such
as Lamb and Moby. As well as working on exclusive tracks,
collaborations with Meat Katie and reworkings of classics for his
album ‘Perfecto Breaks’.
2004 saw Lee Coombs back in the studio writing like a demon in
preparation for his debut artist album ‘Breakfast of Champions’,
collaborating with some of the finest producers around including
Dylan Rhymes, Christian J, Andy Gardner (Plump DJ’s) and Jem
Panufnik (Soul of Man).
To support the release of the album. Lee is embarking on a US tour
and Australasian tour at the end of the year, which will culminate
at Sydney’s Field Day – a 25,000-person event on New Year’s Day!!!
People are sitting up and taking notice of his
extraordinary talent. You will too!!! |
