DJ Ollie Blackmore
Ollie
first heard proper house music when his best friend’s brother
returned from Ibiza in the summer of 1989 with a bag full of mix
tapes. Having copied every tape, he discovered early hardcore and
house and was hooked.
He bought his first decks in 1990 and was booked to play Intense at
Peppermint Park in Norwich within two weeks!!! The reaction he
received at his very first gig has been the catalyst for him to
pursue a DJ’ing career.
Within the first year of playing, Ollie managed to perform all over
East Anglia at clubs such as Hyperbolic, Pleasure Zone, Pulse,
Intense and several raves including the infamous Bees Knees. His
enthusiasm and passion of music and the scene earned him a residency
with Hyperbolic at Kings Lynn Speedway stadium where he played every
Friday.
It wasn’t long before he changed direction and began playing house
from 1994 onwards. His reputation in East Anglia grew and began to
pick up more and more guest sets around the region.
With the Norwich club scene well underway in the mid-90’s, Ollie was
lucky enough to land a prestigious residency with Milky Lunch. Here
he was playing alongside some of the world’s finest DJ’s including
Sasha, Marshall Jefferson, Danny Rampling and Boy George. His
contacts within the industry began to escalate and soon he was
playing regularly for Miss Moneypennys at the UEA, Norwich and at
their Birmingham home ‘Bonds’.
By the end of the 1990’s, Ollie had played all over the country for
some of the best clubs around. You’d find him at Progress, Club UK
and Kink, Temptation at the Whitehouse in Newmarket, Slinky, The
Gallery at Turnmills, Godskitchen, Gatecrasher, Ministry of Sound
tours and Renaissance. He kept his local interests alive too,
securing regular work with Dance Paradise and the then fledging
promotion Pams House. He was also resident for events at the UEA,
Norwich whenever a big tour was in town.
In 1999 Ollie became a resident for Universe. Universe is famous for
the pioneering dance festivals, which spawned Tribal Gathering. His
residency with Universe set him up to play on the Universe show on
Atlantic 252, Music Choice on Sky (Channels 498 & 499) every Friday
to a global audience, and he even played on a UK tour promoting the
film ‘Sorted’.
The UK tour took Ollie all over the country. He was lucky enough to
play alongside Carl Cox, Danny Howells, Lisa Loud, Timo Maas and
Terry Farley to name but a few!!! The highlight of the tour was
DJ’ing at the glittering premier party at London’s Browns nightclub.
Ollie landed a weekly residence DJ’ing live on TV with the now
defunct Rapture TV. Here Ollie would play live to a studio audience
as the show was broadcast around Europe.
Ollie now plays US house music, whether it’s a funky soulful warm-up
set or the more driving beats of Jackin house. From San Fran to
Phily, Chicago to NY, Ollie’s sets inspire and make you move. He is
now resident and co-promoter for Soulshaker. His tastes are broad,
and cater for the crowd without playing obvious, commercial house
music.
Ollie is a focussed and committed DJ who performs to inspire…………
